Biography

Born in Bridgeton, NJ and raised in Atlanta, GA, Ms. Marcus began her romance with the arts through dance. As a young child, she attended and participated in after school programs and local dance schools. Her passion for the arts flourished once she reached high school, attending Tri-Cities Visual & Performing Arts High School in East-Point, GA. While in high school, Ms. Marcus was exposed to the various facets of dance, theatre and visual arts. These opportunities cultivated her interest in pursuing the arts as a career: combining her passion for dance and love of photography. Ms. Marcus obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a minor in Visual Arts-Photography from Howard University. Thereafter, she received her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta, GA), and has since worked extensively both nationally and internationally. Some of her accomplishments includes completing SCAD's study-abroad program in Lacoste, France, as well as showcasing work at China Jinan International Photography Biennial, Exposition des étudiants in France, Museum of Contemporary Art (Atlanta, GA), Hammonds House, Lucinda Bunnen Selects at Atlanta Photo Group (APG), Gallery 72, Peachtree Avenue, Savannah College of Art & Design, and published along with many of Georgia's best poets and photographers inside the book, "Inspired Georgia." Ms. Marcus was recently awarded the Promenade's Artist in Residence for 2019 and is very excited about this next adventure.
